What is WorldPop?

WorldPop is a free, open-access platform providing live world population statistics for all 195 countries on Earth. Our counter updates every second based on UN 2024 demographic estimates.

Data Sources

Population figures are sourced from:

• United Nations — World Population Prospects 2024
• World Bank — World Development Indicators
• CIA World Factbook — Country-level statistics

The live counter starts from a base figure (January 1, 2024) and applies the net growth rate (births minus deaths) per second. This is an estimate, not an official census.
